ABOUT

Hi, I’m Cami. I’m a wife and mom in Southern California who recently decided to create a blog and website after resigning from an intense, full time job in the media & technology industry.  That job allowed me to travel to exciting destinations and work with brilliant colleagues but took a toll on family time.  I created this site in an effort to balance parenthood with a part time business project while learning about fun games!

MY STORY

I’ve always loved to play games and enjoyed the social interactions involved with playing games.  From playing countless games of Four Square, Marco Polo, and Capture the Flag as a kid to Celebrity Guessing Game, Corn Hole, and Bocce Ball as an adult, games have been a way of life for me, my family, and friends.

I started my career at the gameshows Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune at Sony Pictures and held my most recent position at Netflix for 5 years which fueled my love of games and technology.  Inspired by my mom who was first a teacher and later had her own business and my husband who is an entrepreneur and runs the sites eLearningArt.com and SportSpectator.com, I finally decided to try my hand at building out the Game On Family site.  I’ve since been able to work less hours on a flexible schedule which in the end allows me to be home and spend time with my family.

SO WHY THE GAME ON FAMILY BLOG?

Plato once said “You can learn more about a person in an hour of play, than in a year of conversation.” With this blog, I want to help people discover fantastic, fun games that create a sense of camaraderie and team spirit.  I hope to see people taking a time out from technology (other than to read our free tutorials!) and engage in games that are social and active with friends and family.

Another reason I started this blog is due to the growing body of research that supports the idea that games are good for us!  They can help us get/stay physically fit, encourage sportsmanship, and stimulate our brains and creativity.

If you’re throwing a party or gathering, planning a family reunion, looking to do something active with the kiddos, I hope you can find the right game here.

Please subscribe to my newsletter and get free ‘how to play’ tutorials complete with product recommendations.  If you have ideas for new games, comments, or suggestions, I’d love to hear them! You can contact me at the GOF Facebook Page or the GOF Pinterest Page.

Note, these product recommendations are affiliate links, and at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you decide to make a purchase.  Please understand that I recommend them because they are helpful and appropriate for the game(s), not because of the small commissions I make if you decide to buy something.

DISCLAIMER

My hope is that you will discover and learn great games to play, but some games may be more extreme than others. Please be safe and responsible and know that you play at your own risk.
