Homemade Jeopardy Requirements
You will need a poster boards, cards you can make out of paper, as well as some markers. Alternatively, you may create these cards on the computer. You will also need some players to play with which is of course 3, but it can be fun with more!
How to Play Homemade Jeopardy or DIY Jeopardy
- There will be 3 rounds: Jeopardy, Double Jeopardy, Final Jeopardy. You will need to create 3 boards for these rounds, each with 6 different topics. You can choose your topics, or add categories such as History, English Literature, Music, Popular Culture, Music, or Art.
- Divide the board into 6 columns for each of these topics, then allocate point values to each category: 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, and 600 for Jeopardy and 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 for Double and Final Jeopardy. At the back of these numbers should be clues and answers, for example: This is red and used in a salad – A Tomato.
- Toss a coin to determine who will go first. The person who goes first will choose a card from any category and the host will read the clue out to him. He has to answer back in the form of a question. For example, if the clue was “This is red and used in a salad”, the player has to answer, “What is a tomato?” This answer is written down on a piece of paper. He or she will then gain the score on that card if it is correct.
- The game is played like this until each person has answered a question. Then the players will move onto Double Jeopardy, which works in the same way.
- At the end of the Double Jeopardy round, the person with the lowest score will be eliminated, and the last 2 contestants will move on to Final Jeopardy.
- In Final Jeopardy players will predict the amount of points they think they’ll win and only one clue will be given. Contestants will then have 30 seconds to write down the answer in question form. The person who got the answer right, and who predicted the most points will be the winner.
Homemade Jeopardy Game Variations
To make it even more interesting, create a spinner where you write the categories down. Spin it around to see where the arrow lands and play the category it landed on, instead of letting players choose themselves.
