Games for Spring – Game On Family Newsletter
Happy April Everyone!
Welcome to our new subscribers and thanks for entering our board games giveaway last month (and congratulations, Laura!). We had so much fun hosting the giveaway that we plan on offering another one in May – stay tuned.
Games for Spring
National Scrabble Day – Heads up that #NationalScrabbleDay is April 13th! Board gamers celebrate this word game on April 13th in honor of the birth of Alfred Mosher Butts, born on April 13, 1899. He developed the game in the 1930’s when he was an amateur artist and unemployed architect. Read our Scrabble game tutorial to learn how to play this game that incorporates elements of anagrams and crossword puzzles.
Easter Games – We absolutely love this creative Easter egg hunt idea of attaching helium balloons to eggs to aid toddlers in their Easter egg hunts… so cute! For the older kids who are over Easter egg hunting, we recommend the Egg Drop Team Building Game which is a messy, funny and a light-hearted way to teach problem-solving and cooperation skills in a group. Try some Hopscotch for those little bunnies needing to burn off some energy after all those Easter treats.
The Toy Box – We recently heard about ABC’s new show “The Toy Box” that’s a “Shark Tank” like competition show for TOYS with kid judges! What fun. Toy inventors, you can find out how to enter by going to http://www.toyboxcasting.com.
Outdoor Game of the Month – As we hop into Spring and warmer weather, we’re focusing on Outdoor Games, and Bocce Ball takes first place this month. This Italian ball sport seems to gain more popularity every year through Bocce leagues and tournaments, and it’s portability and simple rules make it super easy to learn. This Bocce Ball Set is a bestseller on Amazon, and we also love the Glow in the Dark Bocce Ball Set for playing after sunset.
